Nursery Managers
Louise Hobson & Deborah Thorne

Welcome to Children 1st Sheffield Nursery School

Hi, my name is Louise, and I am the Under 2’s Nursery Manager at Children 1st Sheffield. I have been part of the Children 1st family for 25 years, starting my journey as a Nursery Nurse in the Under 2’s unit and then working up to Nursery Manager. As a mum of two, my passion for early years education extends beyond my work, as I’ve experienced firsthand the impact a nurturing nursery environment has on a child’s development.

My name is Deborah, and I am our Over 2’s Nursery Manager. I qualified with an N.N.E.B in 1993 and have worked in childcare for 32 years, with 30 of those years spent at Children 1st. I started as a Nursery Nurse and worked my way up to Nursery Manager in 2000. I specialise in early years education and also lead our SEND provision, ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.

Together, we are dedicated to creating a warm, caring, and inspiring environment for all the children in our care. Our nursery is located in the center of Sheffield, and we take great pride in providing outstanding early years education for our diverse and culturally enriched community. Every day, we strive to create an inclusive space where all children feel welcome, valued, and inspired to learn.

We believe our nursery is more than just a place to learn, it’s a family. Our team builds meaningful relationships with the children, supporting their growth and confidence.

We would love to welcome you and your family for a visit to show you what makes Children 1st Sheffield such a special place.

Making a difference

Our Community

We believe in the power of kindness and the importance of giving back. We’re always looking for ways to support good causes and get involved in our community, helping to make a positive impact where it’s needed most.

Throughout the year, we’ll be organising a range of fun and meaningful fundraising activities, from bake sales and dress-up days to sponsored challenges and community events. It’s a great way for our children, families, and team to come together, have fun, and make a real difference.
